History Trip - 4th, 5th and 6th Classes
We then visited Arbour Hill, where many of the executed leaders of the 1916 Rising are buried. This provided a reflective moment for pupils to consider the sacrifices made by these figures in shaping modern Ireland.
Our next stop was the National Museum of Ireland, often referred to as the “Dead Museum,” where students examined fascinating artefacts and exhibitions that trace Ireland’s ancient past and cultural heritage. The visit sparked great curiosity and discussion among the group.
The final stop of the day was Glasnevin Cemetery, where pupils learned about many of Ireland’s most famous historical figures. The guided tour helped deepen their understanding of key events and personalities connected to Irish independence.
Overall, the trip reinforced many of the topics pupils have been studying in school, bringing Irish history to life in a meaningful and impactful way. The pupils’ engagement and behaviour throughout the day were commendable, and they represented the school with great respect.
A sincere thank you to Mr Donnelly for organising such a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
